An Oklahoma man who was released from prison in January is now accused of killing his neighbour and cutting out her heart.

Lawrence Paul Anderson, 42, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, one count of assault and one count of maiming for an attack.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on February 9 Anderson broke into his neighbour's house and stabbed her to death. He later admitted he cut out her heart.

Anderson allegedly took the heart back to his home where he attempted to make his aunt and uncle eat the organ with potatoes.

An OSBI agent wrote that Anderson wanted to "feed his family and release the demons".

"Anderson cooked the heart at the Pye home and tried to make Delsie and Leon Pye eat the heart before he attacked them," another OSBI agent wrote.

Anderson has been accused of murdering Leon Pye and his granddaughter Kaeos Yates, and stabbing Delsie Pye on the same day.

The 42-year-old was arrested at his home in Minnesota after police responded to 911 for help.

He was released from hospital on February 15 and is being held at the Grady County jail.
