A teacher at a posh boarding school in the UK has been banned from the classroom for three years after taking his pupils to a strip club.

Richard Glenn, a computer science teacher at Longridge Towers was on a school trip to Costa Rica in July 2019 when he was sent home in disgrace.

The 55-year-old was in charge of a group of 16 to 18-year-olds, got drunk with his students and took them to a strip club.

He also "exposed his naked body" to the female leader of the trip in their shared hotel room, according to The Sun.

One night after drinking, he told a student: "I'm going to kick your f**king head in" and said to another, "I'm going to f**king kill you."

He then kissed a boy's forehead and told him, "you're all right".

The teacher was supposed to be leading the group of students until July 28, but after six days he was sent home by the expedition's leader "due to his behaviour".

A misconduct panel understood his behaviour "placed one or more pupils in his care at risk".

The panel added there was no "malice or sexual intent" in taking the students to the club, but Glenn admitted it was "inappropriate and unprofessional".

"Mr Glenn was, at various times during the trip, under the influence of alcohol, and therefore not in a position to adequately take decisions or act in loco parentis," the report said.

He was dismissed in August 2019.
