A Florida family has been charged for selling bleach as a 'miracle' cure for COVID-19 and several other diseases, Fox News reported.

The family made more than US$1 million on sales of the 'solution' according to their indictment.

The US Justice Department charged 62-year-old Mark Grenon and his three sons, 34-year-old Jonathan Grenon, 26-year-old Jordan Grenon, and 32-year-old Joseph Grenon with marketing and selling the 'Miracle Mineral Solution' as a cure for the virus.

The toxic industrial bleach was marketed by the family as also curing other illnesses including cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, autism, malaria, hepatitis, Parkinson's, HIV/AIDS, and other serious medical conditions, according to the indictment.

The family allegedly sold and promoted the product to not only treat but prevent people from getting infected with COVID-19.

The family made more than US$1 million on sales of the 'solution' according to the indictment.

The Grenons allegedly sold their product under the appearance of a non-religious body called Genesis II Church of Health and Healing.

MMS is a chemical solution containing sodium chlorite and water that when ingested becomes chloride dioxide. The latter is used for water treatment and textiles.

The family sold the product without listing any of the harmful side effects which included severe vomiting, diarrhea, and low blood pressure.

A court order from a civil case mandated the Grenons stop selling the product in 2020, but the family allegedly continued to sell MMS, the indictment states.

Each family member is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud and two counts of criminal contempt.

The Grenons face arraignment starting April 27 and if found guilty they would face up to life in prison.

This comes a year after former US President Donald Trump was lambasted by the medical community around the world after he suggested injecting disinfectant as COVID-19 treatment.
