Indian YouTuber arrested for tying helium balloons to dog, sending it floating into sky

An Indian YouTuber has been arrested after attaching balloons to his dog and flying it up to a second-storey window.

Delhi-based YouTuber Gaurav Sharma posted the video on May 21, in which he's filmed attaching a number of helium balloons to the back of his pomeranian, Dollar.

The dog can then be seen floating skyward, colliding with a second-floor balcony as Sharma laughs from below.

"Please don't take it wrong. When we will fly Dollar, we will take all safety precautions," he said in the now-deleted video.

Sharma, whose YouTube channel goes by the name Gauravzone, has 4.15 million subscribers - but his video drew immediate flak from his followers on YouTube, reports The Hindustan Times.

People for Animals raised their concerns with police and Sharma has since been arrested.

Atul Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police for South Delhi, said Sharma has been detained after risking an animal's life by filming a video.

"He has been arrested on the charges of animal cruelty by risking the pet dog’s life via video making," Metro quotes him as saying.
