Police are tracking down COVID-19 deniers who graffitied over a memorial for stillborn babies in Scotland.

The message 'one less rat' was scribbled over the black-marble memorial which read: 'For All Our Babies Briefly Known Forever Loved'.

Other graves at the Dunfermline Cemetery were also vandalised with messages like 'f**k you's', 'Scum' and 'Covid Hoax'.

Police in Scotland are investigating after the damage was reported on Saturday.

"Around 10:05am on Saturday, 1 May 2021, police were contacted with regard to vandalism at a baby memorial within Dunfermline Cemetery, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline," a police spokesperson told Metro UK.

"Officers have attended and the graffiti has been removed.

"Enquiries, which are at a very early stage, are continuing."
