US police have killed 115 children since 2015, new data compiled by the Washington Post shows.

The data, updated on Saturday, contains records of every fatal shooting in the US by a police officer since January 1 2015.

The death of 13-year-old Adam Toledo on March 29 is just one example of this instance.

Toledo was shot and killed by a Chicago police officer in the predominantly Latino neighbourhood of Little Village on March 29.

"We are tired of having these trigger-happy police officers," Baltazar Enriquez, president of the Little Village community, told ABC News on Friday.

"The youth are scared of our officers, and it shouldn't be like that.

"Officers should show them that their safety is the number one priority and show them that they're not there to kill them, but that they can call 911."

He added: "Some of them are afraid of calling the police department."

The data shows that the young victims were disproportionately Black and Hispanic.

Of the 115 children, 42 were black and 28 were Hispanic.

According to Mapping Police Violence data, US police officers killed 1127 people in 2020.

In 2020, there were just 18 days where police did not kill somebody.
