Niece of Donald Trump says Ivanka could flip on former President to save herself

A close relative of former US President Donald Trump believes Ivanka Trump could flip on her father to save herself if she was put in such a position.

Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, last week pleaded not guilty to 15 charges against him, including tax fraud and conspiracy. It comes as prosecutors investigate possible criminal conduct at the company.

Speaking on The New Abnormal podcast this week, Mary Trump, a niece and vocal critic of the former President, said investigators may be looking to find someone to flip on him - and Ivanka could be that person, if she was charged with an offence.

"So either they’re not going to be solely relying on Allen Weisselberg to flip because either there’s documentary evidence of Donald's direct wrongdoing or there will be other people who might be more willing to flip than Allen. And I think among those might well indeed be my cousins,” she said.

Mary described Ivanka as "much less likely to stay loyal" than Wesselberg, with much more to lose.

"I think Ivanka has one, more to lose, and two, more to hang onto. Her husband’s family is legitimately very wealthy."

Cynthia Alksne, a former federal prosecutor, spoke to MSNBC earlier this week and said the charges against Weisselberg were simply "an opening salvo" and that investigators may look at Ivanka next.

"We’ve heard a lot of this reporting about Ivanka Trump getting 'consulting fees' for things that she may or may not have done. That looks to me like the next place, but we'll just have to see."

Mary has long criticised the former President, writing a book last year titled Too Much and Never Enough, How My Family Created The World's Most Dangerous Man.
