Victoria records 13 new COVID-19 cases

Victoria has recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

There are also two new cases acquired from overseas who are in hotel quarantine.

The state is currently in a lockdown that was due to end at midnight on Tuesday - but on Monday but Premier Daniel Andrews said it would not be possible to have restrictions lifted so early.

Almost 50,000 tests were undertaken over the last day and 17,083 people received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Under the state's strict lockdown conditions Victorians can leave their homes for food and supplies, two hours of exercise within 5km of their house, caregiving duties, permitted work and getting vaccinated.

The lockdown is Melbourne's fifth since the pandemic began and its third of 2021.
