New South Wales freight handler fired for tossing, spitting at package for Premier Gladys Berejiklian

A freight handler has been fired from his job after tossing then spitting at a package addressed to New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

A video appeared on social media over the weekend showing a worker inside the sorting room for CouriersPleaser.

The video starts by showing the man holding a package with Berejiklian’s name written on the label.

He then says: "Ladies and gentleman, f**king Gladys. I’ve got a shipment for Gladys. Look, look, look. You know what to do with this?" he remarks to another co-worker according to News.com.au.

The freight handler then tosses the package across the room before facing the camera and appearing to spit into his own mask.

His employer CouriersPlease released a statement saying it was made aware of the incident.

"CouriersPlease has been alerted to a video circulating on the internet in relation to a parcel addressed to the NSW Premier's office," the company said in a statement. "The content of the video in no way reflects the values or code of conduct at CouriersPlease.

"The freight handler in the video was dismissed immediately as part of our investigation, and we are also speaking with our franchisees and employees to ensure everyone adheres to our code of conduct."

NSW reported 1290 community cases of COVID-19 and another four deaths on Monday as it continues to battle with the Delta variant.
