COP26: Joe Biden reportedly flashed by 'large, naked Scottish man' en route to COP26 summit in Glasgow

US President Joe Biden was reportedly flashed by "a large, naked man" en route to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.

Citing a pool report by White House correspondents, British television presenter and BBC North America editor Jon Sopel tweeted on Tuesday (local time) that the President had been flashed by a naked man while travelling from his Edinburgh hotel to the summit at Glasgow's Scottish Event Campus.

The "large, naked Scottish man" reportedly stood in front of a window and took a picture of Biden's motorcade, which features several large armoured limousines, as the convoy passed by his home on Tuesday morning.

"From the White House pool report on @POTUS journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow: 'At one point when we were still on smaller country roads, a large, naked  Scottish man stood in his front window taking a picture of the motorcade with his phone'," Sopel tweeted.

"Welcome to Scotland, Mr President."

Pool reports are written by journalists from various news organisations who combine their resources to collect information. The reports are then distributed to members of the broadcast pool, who can use it as they see necessary.

Attempts by Newshub to independently verify the claim were unsuccessful as the pool report was not immediately found.

The President, 78, also reportedly passed a village where a spray-painted sheet had been positioned on a roundabout to wish a local, named Sandra, a happy 60th birthday.

"Can't stop howling that Joe Biden is currently driving by my village where a spray-painted bedsheet hangs from a roundabout reading: 'HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY SANDRA FROM AW THE LASSIES XXXX'," Scottish screenwriter Damian Mullen shared on Twitter.

The 12-day summit, which kicked off in Glasgow on Sunday, brings together delegates from more than 200 countries in a bid to accelerate action towards the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. World leaders, environmental experts and activists have already taken to the stage to address the worsening climate crisis, issuing apocalyptic warnings of impending doom if action is not immediately taken.

The summit is aiming to keep alive a receding target of capping global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels to avert greater damage from intensified heatwaves, droughts, storms, floods and coastal damage already being caused by climate change.

Speaking at the summit on Tuesday (local time), Biden thanked the leaders who had signed a "game-changing" pledge to stop deforestation and slash emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, by 30 percent by the end of the decade. Nearly 90 countries have now joined the US and EU-led initiative, a senior Biden administration official said ahead of the pledge's formal launch on Tuesday.

On Monday, the first full day of the conference, Biden attempted to reassert America's credibility in the fight against climate change after his predecessor, Donald Trump, decided to pull the US from the Paris Accords in 2017. He apologised to his fellow heads of state for the move, which put the world "behind the eight ball" in tackling the crisis. Re-entering the agreement - which sets the long-term goal of keeping the average rise in global temperatures from exceeding 2 degrees Celsius - was one of Biden's first moves upon being sworn in on January 20, with the US formally re-entering the Accords in February.

Also on Monday, Biden copped some flak on social media after the 78-year-old was caught snoozing during the opening speeches

The news of Biden's naked photographer comes after Edinburgh locals were shocked to see a local petrol station sealed off while the President's motorcade refuelled on Monday night.

According to local outlet Edinburgh News, twoo of the cars were photographed at the BP garage while a heavy police and military presence restricted entry to the forecourt.

The President has now completed his second day at the COP26 summit in Scotland after Airforce One touched down at Edinburgh Airport on Monday.
