An anti-vax Czech folk singer has died after reportedly deliberately catching COVID-19 in order to visit the sauna and theatre.

Hana Horka, 57, rather than getting the vaccine voluntarily exposed herself to the virus when her vaccinated husband and son caught it before Christmas, Czech Radio reported.

“She went for it. She was supposed to stay away from us, but she decided to remain at home with us normally, preferring to go through the disease than to get vaccinated. It is sad that my mom trusted strangers more than her own family,” Her son Jan Rek told Czech Radio.

In states in the European Union, proof of vaccination or recent infection is required to obtain a health pass that allows people to access public facilities and travel.

Rek said he and his dad were sick for three days with the virus, while his mum was sick for five days before her death, Czech news agency iROZHLAS reported.

Horka who was the lead singer for the folk band Asonance posted on social media two days before her death that she had survived the virus.

"So now there will be the theatre, sauna, a concert... and an urgent trip to the sea," Horka posted.

Horka died in bed by suffocation as a result of COVID Rek claims, iROZHLAS reported.

Rek said he thinks the information his mum was receiving was not complete misinformation but deliberately modified so that one party likes it.

According to the World Health Organisation, Europe has had 1.7 million deaths from COVID, the death toll is expected to hit 2 million in March.
