Tonga facing large clean-up in aftermath of volcano eruption and tsunami

Tonga is facing devastation following a destructive volcano eruption and tsunami.

The 1.2-metre tsunami hit the kingdom on Saturday after Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai erupted for eight minutes, throwing ash into the sky.

Power has been restored to some of Nuku'alofa and local mobile phones are working, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Sunday. There have been no official reports of deaths.

A tsunami warning was triggered for New Zealand and many areas were warned about potential strong currents and coastal surges.

Here are the latest photos and videos showing the devastating aftermath in Tonga and damage from the tsunami around the world.
