An Australian man has been caught waiting in a hotel room for an eight-year-old girl with the intention of having sex with her.
Video footage of 46-year-old Jonathon David Henke being arrested has been released, showing police catch him red-handed waiting for a young girl to arrive.
The Adelaide District Court heard that Henke had posted an advertisement on the website ChaosAds in October 2020, 7 News reports.
"The advertisement was titled 'male looking for mother and very young daughter'," Judge Adam Kimber said during sentencing.
7 News reported the man thought he was bargaining with a mother-of-two to have sex with her eight-year-old daughter. Instead, he was talking to an undercover police officer.
Henke had condoms and lubricant in the hotel room ready to have sex with the underage girl.
Judge Kimber told the court: "The condoms were flavoured and in the flavour, you had been told the child liked."
The paedophile was also found with child exploitation material.
The former truck driver had published the advertisement on the same day his wife asked for a divorce.
Judge Kimber told the court the offending was "heinous" and that the man was at risk of reoffending. Henke was sentenced to a maximum of five years and eight months in jail, backdated to October 23, 2020.
He was given a non-parole period of three years and six months.
