Prince William reportedly threatened to pull out of Monday's Order of the Garter ceremony if his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew was to attend.

The Mirror UK reported that "family decisions" were made to make sure the Duke of York's public appearances would be kept to a minimum, with the Queen being persuaded by Prince Charles and Prince William to re-think Prince Andrew's appearance for the ceremony.

The Duke of Cambridge was reportedly "alarmed" at the thought of his uncle taking part in the Order of the Garter ceremony and made it clear, that he would not attend the ceremony if Prince Andrew was there.

"The Duke of Cambridge was adamant. If York insisted on taking part publicly, he would withdraw," Evening Standard reported

In February, Prince Andrew settled a lawsuit after Virginia Giuffre accused him of sexually abusing her as a teenager.

The Duke of York was sued by Giuffre who he had paid an undisclosed amount of money to, in order to spare him a potentially embarrassing series of disclosures and accusations in the months leading up to and during a trial, which was expected to be later this year.

The Royal Family removed Prince Andrew's military links in January and royal patronages and said he will no longer be known as "His Royal Highness."

Prince Andrew's last public appearance was when he escorted his mother to the memorial service in March of this year.
