Sydney fence feud turns feral after neighbour hangs bedsheet with taunts outside house

An ongoing neighbourhood feud between two Sydney houses has caught the attention of the public again after one of the neighbours put up a bedsheet dissing her neighbour.

Epping residents Yuk Lo and Dr Rong Ji have been fighting over a fence between the two properties for three years, with Lo taking her neighbour to court over two trees in Ji's backyard.

The matter was taken to the Land and Environment Court, where the neighbours were ordered to split the cost of a new fence and for the trees on Ji's property to be cut down.

Acting Commissioner David Galwey said in 2021 that the feud had become much more than a fight over a fence.

"This dispute between neighbours in Epping has, at its core, a fence along a common boundary, and vegetation alongside the fence, but has become clouded by other issues over the years," News.com.au reported.

Ji claimed he had paid his share of the costs already but Lo was not happy with the outcome of the feud, which is why she put up the bed sheet on her property.

The bed sheet said Ji's payment was seven months late and the trees were still causing damage.

Court documents said Lo had suffered "significant stress" because of the trees on the property, but Galwey said the trees were too small to cause anyone stress.

"They have caused some very minor damage that can be readily fixed. There is nothing inherently stressful about these trees."
