Russian President Vladimir Putin says Western leaders would look 'disgusting' shirtless

Russian President Vladimir Putin has hit back at leaders of the West after several of them mocked photos of him bare-chested.

While talking to reporters in Turkmenistan on Thursday (local time), the Russian leader claimed they would look "disgusting" topless.

At the G7 summit earlier this week, while talking amongst each other, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson joked that Western leaders "show that we're tougher than Putin" by taking off their jackets.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also chimed in and said they could try to re-create Putin's "bare-chested horseback riding display," where the Russian President is riding shirtless on a horse.

The Russian President retaliated and claimed Western leaders drank too much alcohol and didn't exercise.

"I don’t know how they wanted to get undressed, above or below the waist," he said. "But I think it would be a disgusting sight in any case."

"It's necessary to stop abusing alcohol and other bad habits," he added, "do physical exercise and take part in sports".
