Russia-Ukraine war: Elon Musk sparks outrage on Twitter after offering solution to end war

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has caused outrage on Twitter after tweeting a proposed peace deal to solve the war between Ukraine and Russia.

On Tuesday (local time), Musk tweeted: "Ukraine-Russia Peace: Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people. Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev's mistake).

"Water supply to Crimea assured.

"Ukraine remains neutral."

This came with a poll to vote 'Yes' or 'No'.

More than 60 percent voted no and accused Musk of not knowing enough about the history between Russia and Ukraine to comment on a solution.

One person commented: "Being Ukrainian I saw you as [an] explorer of our future, hi-tec and space. Now you are just a disappointment of the year. Being one of the most influential people on Earth you have no right to decide the fate of other nations and their country's borders."

Another commented: "Elon, you're a cool guy and thanks for the Starlink but it'd be so very wonderful if you were to carry out votes on things that you know about."

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted his own poll in response to Musk's tweet on the Russia and Ukraine war.

Zelensky tweeted: "Which Elon Musk do you like more? One who supports Ukraine, one who supports Russia?"

Musk responded to the Ukrainian President's tweet and said "I still very much support Ukraine, but am convinced that massive escalation of the war will cause great harm to Ukraine and possibly the world".

Another poll was also created underneath one of Musk's tweets which said: "Should Elon shut up?" and 80 percent of the votes were yes.
