Pavel Antov, a Russian multi-millionaire sausage maker and politician, has died after falling from a hotel window in India, according to reports.

Russian media said the 65-year-old plunged to his death from the hotel in Odisha state but the circumstances surrounding the fall were unclear.

State news agency TASS reported the death as not having a "criminal component". It quoted a Kolkata-based Russian diplomat as saying Antov "fell out of a window".

Antov had resided in Russia's Vladimir since the 1980s and was a member of the region's Legislative Assembly.

He founded the sausage and meat manufacturing firm Vladimir Standard in the 2000s, according to Forbes

Antov had taken a public stand against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In a June social media post, Antov expressed concern over Ukrainian civilians being wounded in what he described as "terrorism".

He later backtracked on those comments, saying they were made in error, UK newspaper The Telegraph reported.

Antov was the latest of multiple Russian businessmen to die suddenly in unclear circumstances this year.
