A French journalist has made a lucky escape after diving for cover as a Russian missile landed behind him while he was reporting in Ukraine.

Paul Gasnier was reporting live for the programme Quotidien on Sunday night (local time) in Druzhkivka when a missile struck a hotel and an ice rink around 200 metres behind him, Metro UK reported.

Gasnier was forced to dive for cover as the host of the show Yann Baryhès watched in horror from the television studio.

Druzhkivka authorities claimed two people were injured in the attack.

The French reporter was unharmed in the blast.
