An Australian woman's criticism on TikTok about the number of American flags flying in the US has offended locals, who told her to leave.

TikTok user, Mia Chloe, shared her opinion through her platform, saying there are "too many American flags".

Little did she know it was an observation that would later get her in trouble.

"I don't know who's making these American flags but they'd be making a bloody fortune," Chloe told her TikTok audience.

"I think I could draw the American flag from memory," she said, adding, "I think I could make a bloody sculpture out of it that's how many times I've seen it".

She joked she'd only ever seen an Australian flag on Sydney's Harbour Bridge.

"I could not tell you what it looks like," she said.

She ended the video with a message to Americans, telling them to "stay humble".

"You're the only country that I know that does this," she said. "It's enough, let's pull back on it."

Chloe's video, which received more than 3 million views, caused some Americans to hit back in the comments.

"My grandfather didn't fight in WW2 for some Australian twit to say she doesn't like all the flags," one person said.

"We will happily pay for a one-way airplane ticket back to Australia," wrote another.

The video caught the attention of Texas Governor Greg Abbott who shared the video on Twitter, where he captioned it "Go back to Australia".

Several Americans agreed with Abbott's post, saying it was a "weird thing to say".

"Wait till she visits Texas and sees all our flags," another said.

The original TikTok video along with her account has since been deleted.

It's unknown where in America Chloe was at the time she recorded the video.
