The Brisbane-based tradie drove off in a Nissan Navara, registration 354WAN.

Two days later he took a selfie and called his son while on a bush walk, however he hasn't been heard from since.Orme was then reported missing by his family on August 16.

"We are perplexed as to what has happened to this missing person," Queensland Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said.

Police found Orme's ute on Saturday, six days after he lost contact.

"His family members are traumatised as a result of not hearing from him now for some seven days," Det Supt Massingham told Australian reporters.

Orme's phone and car were both found dumped near the Pine River.

"The vehicle was in the vicinity of this area for some three-and-a-half hours, before it leaves - only for three or four minutes - and then again is seen to return around midnight," Det Supt Massingham added.

He is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cm tall, with short brown hair and blue eyes, and wearing a typical high-vis tradie polo shirt.

The Nissan Navara has a shed installation business displayed on decals on its sides.

According to police, his family is concerned after what's been a long period of no contact.
