Police in Australia are hoping to reunite a cat with her fur-ever family after she was found with a woman who was being arrested for burglary.

Investigations were temporarily pawsed when officers at the Caulfield Police Station in Victoria discovered the black kitten hidden inside the jumper of the 43-year-old.

Officers quizzed the woman about the animal to see if it was a case of catnapping but she refused to provide any information.

The feline, who has affectionately been named “Connie”, has been given the rank of honorary constable.

A “mugshot” of Connie has been released, in the hopes her owner will recognise her.

She’s now in the custody of RSPCA and it's unclear if there are any clawses in her release.

The woman has been charged with aggravated burglary, handling stolen goods, two counts of criminal damage and stating a false name to police.
