Kiwi man living in Tel Aviv delivers supplies to Israeli soldiers

A Kiwi man who is living in Tel Aviv and delivering supplies to Israeli soldiers near the Gaza strip has a message for people back home.

His aid comes after Israel cut off supplies to 2 million Palestinians living in Gaza following Hamas' attacks.

"All day we've been delivering solar panel charging stations for mobile phones for soldiers that are out in the field right now," Zamir Shatz-Stewart said. "They have no access to power.

"[We're] trying to do what we can to help the soldiers and the citizens at this time."

He said the environment is intense and people are on edge, but there's a feeling of, "'OK, we have to defend our people, we have to be strong.'

"You constantly hear booms, tanks on the road, emergency vehicles on the road in Tel Aviv."

He said he never considered leaving because he has friends and family there and feels he "has a duty".

"As you can see I am a Kiwi, I have my All Blacks shirt on, I'm as Kiwi as a Kiwi can be," he explained. "But when duty calls, duty calls and you've got to do what you've got to do."

He has a message for people in New Zealand: "I just want them to know that every Israeli, they just want to live in peace."
