A Christmas card on sale at UK supermarket Sainsbury's has caused uproar in the vegan community, with some branding it "sick" and "grim".

The card in question features a cartoon pair of pigs covered in snow with the words: "Don't worry, I hear we're getting some blankets!"

Meant to be festive and whimsical, the card has instead sparked criticism after being spotted by a shopper at the Charlton store in London - who took their gripe to X, formerly Twitter.

"I know everyone's sense of humour is different but I think this is the saddest, unkindest Xmas card I've ever seen", the customer wrote, tagging the retail giant.

The popular UK supermarket responded to the concerned shopper's post, apologising for the tone of the card and assuring the complaint would be passed on for review.

"We offer a wide range of festive cards and welcome customer feedback on this year's designs," the supermarket said

The post garnered support and opposition from various users, some declaring they'd "never be able to eat another pig in a blanket" and calling the joke "incredibly bleak and sad".

Another wrote, "Brilliant card that, love it!"

"Keep up the good work Sainsbury's, please don't apologise for it," said another.
Harmless humour or out of touch and offensive?
