World reacts to Dame Jacinda Ardern, Clarke Gayford's Hawke's Bay wedding

The news that former Prime Minister Dame Jacinda Ardern is now officially married has quickly circulated around the world.

Multiple international media outlets have had a lot to say about the intimate Hawke's Bay ceremony with husband Clarke Gayford on Saturday, after five years of engagement.

"New Zealand ex-Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern weds longtime partner," CNN shared.

The New York Times wrote that Ardern had capped "five years of speculation" with the wedding.

"New Zealand's pathbreaking former Prime Minister became a global celebrity noted for, among other things, a very long engagement," it wrote.

Meanwhile, News.com.au described one piece of clothing as a "secret message".

"Their five-year-old daughter, Neve, accompanied her father down the aisle, wearing a dress made from her grandmother's wedding dress," they wrote.

"The political wedding of the year" was how The Daily Mail UK described the event.

The Daily Mail Australia, meanwhile, headlined their wedding piece "Jacinda Ardern's big day picketed by anti-vax protestors".

It comes after a group of people left photos of dead loved ones outside the entrance to the venue.

Kiwis had a lot to say about the ceremony too, with kind words, compliments, and messages of congratulations.

"It brings me so much pleasure to hear that Jacinda Ardern's wedding went off without a hitch," one person shared on Twitter.

"She is a beautiful person, so happy for her to finally have her special day," another added.

"After seeing Jacinda's beautiful wedding to dashing Clarke, life couldn't be better," a third said.

Former Prime Minister and current Labour leader Chris Hipkins attended the ceremony with his partner Toni Grace. He described the ceremony as "lovely" to Newstalk ZB.

Others applauded that she had chosen to wear a dress by New Zealand designer Juliette Hogan.

"I love that she is wearing New Zealand designs, they look beautiful," one woman shared on Twitter.

"She looks amazing in that halter neck," others agreed.

"Down to earth, beautiful, intelligent, humble, wise - may she and her handsome new husband enjoy happiness now and into their future!"
