A New Zealand-born woman who died from a drug overdose in a Gold Coast apartment has been named by Australian police.
Danielle Whittaker, who is originally from Wellington, died while celebrating her 40th birthday with six close friends on Good Friday.
The group were at the Ocean by Meriton apartments in Surfers Paradise when several women became unwell.
It's believed some women ingested a mix of drugs beforehand.
Emergency services were called to the apartments just after 11pm on Friday after reports of multiple drug overdoses.
Whittaker suffered cardiac arrest at the scene and paramedics were unable to revive her.
Two other patients were found not breathing and taken to hospital.
One 43-year-old woman was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition but is now stable. Another 43-year-old woman has now been released from hospital.
