It's getting tough for the hospitality industry, with Botswana Butchery restaurants across Australia having entered voluntary administration.

The hospitality group operating the New Zealand-founded restaurants, Good Group Australia, will also be closing White + Wong's Australian eateries.

It comes as the group was thrown into voluntary administration on March 31, cutting into the Botswana Butchery chain and three other Asian restaurants across the Tasman.

However, New Zealand operations will not be affected.

The popular Botswana Butchery chain, with a restaurant in Queenstown and Auckland's CBD, is known for its classy setting and delicious steaks. One lamb shoulder on the menu costs NZD $140.

The chain kicked off with the Queenstown restaurant, which opened its doors in 2007.

It then launched in Australia in 2022, following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three of the restaurants, in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, will continue trading while their viability is assessed.

Meanwhile, White + Wong's based in central Sydney and Melbourne's Chadstone, and Wong Baby in Melbourne, have all ceased trading.

The administrators will be looking to restructure the businesses or sell them.
