A 38-year-old Australian man has been charged with bestiality after detectives raided his rural property north of Sydney on Tuesday morning.

In February 2024, search warrants were executed across Sydney by the Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children through the internet.

Their investigation called 'Strike Force Trawler' led the team to the online user 'Beast Boy' which is allegedly the profile of the man arrested.

The 'Beast Boy' account, which has a large following, allegedly used encrypted messaging apps to distribute bestiality content.

This material included sexual abuse of a range of different animals, including dogs, sheep, goats, chickens and a dead kangaroo.

When strike force detectives, local police officers and the Rescue & Bomb Disposal unit executed the search warrant, a dog who was identified as one of the animals allegedly sexually abused by the man was found.

The animal was seized immediately by RSPCA NSW where it will undergo treatment.

Police also seized multiple electronics and hard drives found on the property, which will be used for further forensic examination.

The man, who is believed to be one of the 'biggest self-producers of online bestiality content in the state' was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.

He is charged with eight counts of bestiality, six counts of producing bestiality material, four counts of disseminating bestiality material, as well as possessing child abuse material, and using a carriage service to access and solicit child abuse material.

More charges are expected following further investigation.

He was refused bail after his appearance at Taree Local Court on Tuesday.
