A former Northland detective who admitted stealing drugs from police evidence and selling them is due to find out what penalty he'll face.
Michael Blowers, 50, is due to be sentenced in the High Court at Whangarei today after pleading guilty to stealing and supplying methamphetamine on the third day of his October trial.
Police dropped a charged of supplying cannabis.
It's alleged he stole the drugs between 2011 and 2012 while he was a detective sergeant, replacing the methamphetamine with salt.
Blowers previously led the district's organised crime unit.
He resigned two weeks before the charges were laid.
