Political fallout following Pike River report

The Royal Commission’s report on the Pike River explosion makes it clear that the 29 men that died in the blast were let down by corporate negligence, poor legislation, government restructures and fractured Labour and Economic Development departmental responsibilities.

So far the report has led to the resignation of Labour Minister Kate Wilkinson – something Prime Minister has called an “honourable” act, but it is highly likely that more heads will roll.
