The Parramatta Eels are willing to pay over a million dollars to lure Wallabies playmaker Quade Cooper to their club, which would make him the highest paid player in the NRL the Sydney Morning Herald has reported.

The Eels are willing offer Cooper A$850,000 (NZ$1.07 million), compared with the Australian Rugby Union’s $A400,000 offer to ensure Cooper plays for the Wallabies in the World Cup next year.

Cooper is understood to want play in the NRL but also wants to play for the Wallabies at the World Cup.

Additional match payments by the Eels would be reportedly offered to Cooper on top of the A$850,000.
