Nigella Lawson found trial 'mortifying'

Nigella Lawson has given her first interview since testifying last month in a fraud trial of two former aides.

She told Good Morning America that she felt like she was on trial during the ordeal, which revealed details of her use of cocaine and her relationship with ex-husband Charles Saatchi.

"To have not only your private life, but distortions of your private life put on display is mortifying," Lawson said.

She said he doesn't have a clear memory of being on the witness stand.

"I can't really remember exactly, because you're so focused on answering the questions to the best of your ability that actually you don't have an enormous awareness of yourself. Maybe that's a good thing."

The two aides were eventually acquitted of funding a luxury lifestyle with credit cards loaned to them by Lawson and Saatchi.

The chef is currently promoting her new cooking show in the United States and is trying to focus on her public career instead of her private life.
