Chris Harris and dance partner Vanessa have become the first couple to receive a perfect score in this season of Dancing with the Stars NZ.

The former cricketer received three 10s in the final episode for his freestyle dance and then another perfect score for his second dance.

Dancing to David Bowie's 'Let's Dance', the judges awarded him perfect 10s and said he opened the show with a bang.

A hot pick to take out the competition, Chris and Vanessa are no stranger to high scores for their dances, often scoring 9s and 10s.

Vanessa has already seen success in the competition, winning three years ago with Simon Barnett.

Chris said he hoped he'd be able to show off some of the moves he learned over the course of the competition.

The cricket legend has come a long way since his first score of just 18 points for his opening number in the show's first episode.
