Meghan Markle's dad faked his heart attack to avoid the royal wedding - report

Thomas Markle faked his heart attack and subsequent surgery in order to avoid attending his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry, according to The Daily Mail.

Meghan Markle's father was set to walk her up the aisle at the May 19th wedding at Windsor Castle, but pulled out last minute citing serious health issues.

A source close to the Duchess Of Sussex allegedly told the newspaper the entire story was made up in a bid for sympathy.

"He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public," the source said.

Thomas was left embarrassed after it was revealed that 'paparazzi' photos of him researching Britain and reading about Meghan's relationship in an internet café were staged.

Thomas reportedly sold the photos for as much as £100,000.

When The Daily Mail attempted to verify Thomas' May 26 visit to the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, they were told "no such name" had ever checked in to the clinic.

The reports of the 73-year-old's latest transgression come after a slew of paid interviews in which he claimed Meghan was "terrified", and slammed the Royal's for refusing to speak to him.

In a recent interview with The Sun, he claimed he has not spoken to Meghan since her wedding day, and planned to continue to speak to the press until he heard from her.
