'Jacinda Ardern' rips on National at 2018 VNZMAs

The real Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern may be in Singapore, but that didn't stop her from 'appearing' at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards on Thursday night.

Comedian and Jono and Ben star Laura Daniel donned her Jacinda Ardern impersonation outfit one last time at the awards show in Auckland.

She presented the award for Best Group with Newshub's Samantha Hayes, but couldn't resist striking at her political opponents.

"All of the nominees tonight showcase the strengths of the very best groups in New Zealand," Hayes said.

"They are immensely talented, of course they work together beautifully, and you just know they always have each other's backs."

"Which is why the National Party weren't nominated," Daniel quickly interjected.

Daniel as Ardern also channelled her inner Oprah, promising $1 billion to each New Zealand band - and $660 billion for Six60.

The Dunedin band ended up winning the Best Group award, their fifth Tui on the night.
