Rapper Tyga pulls pūkana after pōwhiri welcoming him to New Zealand

Rapper Tyga has performed his best attempt at a pūkana after touching down in Aotearoa ahead of a show at Auckland's Trusts Arena.

The 'Rack City' hitmaker was welcomed to the country with a traditional Māori pōwhiri where he and his entourage were snapped embracing the culture.

Promoters Bearzerk posted the photos of Tyga alongside the welcoming party on Instagram, prompting excitement from Kiwi fans.

"Omg he's beautiful," one Instagram user commented.

"Legend!" wrote another.

Tyga has also posted a couple of updates from his own 'T-Raww' Instagram account since arriving in New Zealand, one from the plane and several videos of the pōwhiri he was honoured with.

The 29-year-old hip-hop star is known for hits like 'Taste', 'Ayo' and 'Nasty', as well as his long-term relationship with Kylie Jenner, which ended in March 2017.

Tyga's Auckland concert is set to take place on Friday, January 25.
