'Easiest decision ever': Zac Franich announces engagement to Erin Simpson

Two icons of New Zealand television have announced they're getting married.

The Bachelor NZ star Zac Franich and presenter Erin Simpson are engaged after a year of dating.

Franich, 30, told Woman's Day he proposed onboard a naval boat while the couple was in Napier for the city's Art Deco Festival.

"I knew from quite early on that I wanted to marry Erin," he told the magazine. "It was the easiest decision I've ever made."

Simpson, 36, said she believes she's found "true love". She also confessed she never watched the third season of The Bachelor NZ, which starred her now-fiancé.

After weeks of choosing between women, Franich was eventually paired with Viarni Bright in mid-2017. The two dated for five months before calling it quits.

Simpson, meanwhile, was previously romantically involved with former rugby player and agent Ben Boyle.

She met Franich in early 2018, and the two quickly became an item. They moved into an apartment together at the end of last year.

Simpson was frequently spotted cheering her boyfriend on in the audience of Three's Dancing with the Stars NZ, in which Franich showed off his moves before being eliminated in week four.
