Royal baby: Meghan Markle may not be able to have home birth, could be a week overdue

Meghan Markle may be forced to abandon her plans to have a natural home birth as the royal baby could be up to seven days overdue, according to media outlets.

The Daily Mail reports the Duchess of Sussex remains ensconced in her home at Frogmore Cottage, with Prince Harry and her mother, Doria Ragland.

Last month, the tabloid reported that Meghan wanted to have a midwife-led natural birth at home; however, that option is looking increasingly unlikely as the days tick by.

Frimley Park hospital in Surrey is the closest to the Duke and Duchess' home. Meghan will need to be admitted to hospital if she is to be induced, in accordance with national health guidelines.

Despite the media circus and potential changes of plan, Meghan is said to be feeling "incredibly relaxed and positive" about the impending birth, the Daily Mail reports.

Meghan and Harry issued a statement in April explaining that they would forgo the traditional photo opportunity meant to introduce the royal baby to the world.

"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private," the statement read.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
