Mike Puru has been taken to hospital with multiple injuries after a horror bike crash in Auckland.
The TV and radio host was cycling home from work on Friday when the accident occurred. Puru reportedly blacked out and woke in hospital with a broken rib, air around his lungs and a concussion.
His mother, Diana Puru, posted to Facebook after she heard of the incident.
"OMG our Mike has had an accident on his bike," she wrote. "Has a fractored rib and punctured lung Im so worried [sic]."
"Mum - I'm all good - no drama," he replied.
Puru posted an image of his bike helmet, which has large scrapes on the side.
"All I can say is thank goodness I was wearing a helmet," he told Stuff.
"As I've seen the state of it and it quite likely saved me from more serious injury."
Puru thanks "those who stopped and helped, especially the ambulance staff and the team at Auckland Hospital", Stuff reports.
He expects to be released from hospital later on Saturday.
