Chrissy Teigen's 'heart stopped' after finding out Donald Trump tweeted about her

Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the moment US President Donald Trump attacked her on Twitter.

Trump lashed out at Teigen's husband John Legend over the musician failing to give him credit for a criminal justice reform the president signed into law.

"Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife (sic), are talking now about how great it is," he wrote.

Teigen has been an open critic of the president in the past and he blocked her long before their latest episode, but friends sent her screenshots of the tweet moments after it was published on Sunday.

"My heart stopped because at that moment, you know that you're about to get the wildest group of people," she told Ellen Degeneres on the comedian's talk show.

She told Degeneres initially she was upset at the tweet, but thankfully her friends were able to help her see the funny side.

"I had so many group chats going that night of just hilarious people and people making funny videos sending to me. So, then you laugh about it."

Teigen and Legend immediately set to work on drafting the right reply to the President. Legend chose to call on Trump's wife to ask him to calm down.

"Imagine being President of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody--ANYBODY--will praise you.  Melania, please praise this man. He needs you," Legend said.

Teigen was slightly more direct in her response.

"Lol what a p***y ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president (sic)."
