Rose Matafeo dances, cries, muses on being a 'Horndog' in trailer for HBO comedy special

The trailer for Kiwi Rose Matafeo's stand-up comedy special has been released ahead of the debut of award-winning show 'Horndog' to HBO Max next week.

Matafeo became only the fifth woman ever to win the prestigious Best Show award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with 'Horndog' in 2018.

Now her musings on "wanting to bone everyone all the time" are headed to the small screen, while her starring role in her first feature film Baby, Done is set to hit cinemas later this year.

"Rose Matafeo has kissed nearly 10 men in her life, AKA she’s a total horndog," the blurb for the HBO special reads.

"But what is horniness? Is it that intangible essence of excitement and adventure that has inspired humankind since the dawn of time? An understanding of the overwhelming power of love as the key to true personal flourishing? Or is it simply wanting to bone everyone, all the time?"

In the short sneak peek at the show, Matafeo explains why she feels baths are an overrated concept and thus a perfect metaphor for falling in love.

"The idea of a bath is f**king incredible,  but the reality is that you are hot, you are wet, and you're alone with your thoughts."

The 28-year-old also busts a choreographed move or two - complete with timed lightshow - and despairs about the millennial conundrums of not having time to read books or enough money to buy a home.
