Clueless star Alicia Silverstone has revealed her nine-year-old son Bear has "never needed antibiotics" and has only been sick twice in his life thanks to his vegan diet.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Silverstone said Bear is "such an example of health".
"To have never needed antibiotics in nine years and to never have needed any kind of medical attention… most kids have so many ear infections, they're taking medicine all the time."
The 44-year-old went on to say she wouldn't refuse to give antibiotics to him but he just "doesn't need" them.
"This is a kid who's been sick twice in his life, for like a few hours," she told Entertainment Tonight.
The actress accredited her son's clean bill of health to his vegan diet: "I just want to share that with the world, so that people can see that a plant-based baby is really healthy.
"It's not like they are doing ok... they can do better."
HealthEd.govt says that while safe for children, a vegetarian or vegan diet may need planning due to the sheer bulk of vegetarian foods and children's stomachs often being too small to hold all the food they need for activity and growth.
The diet is also not medically proven to boost immunity.
During the interview, Silverstone also explained why she shares so much of her son's life via social media - because she is a "proud mother" and it deters paparazzi.
"It keeps it less interesting for paparazzi to harass us. When Bear was born, people were camped outside the house for days and days. Six weeks they camped outside our house. The moment I released an image they all went away."
It's not the first time Silverstone has made wild claims regarding the effects of Bear's vegan diet. In June she said veganism was the reason he never had "tantrums" or "upsets".
"The centring, grounding energy of that nourishment in his organs has left him such a calm boy," she told US Weekly.
