Lil Nas X rips his pants performing on Saturday Night Live

Lil Nas X suffered a wardrobe malfunction while performing his hit 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' on Saturday Night Live, ripping open his leather pants during a pole dancing routine.

The 'Old Town Road' rapper was caught off guard when a vigorous body roll caused his trousers to pop open at the seams, forcing him to cover his nether regions with his hand for the remainder of the performance.

While his shocked expression gave away what had happened, Lil Nas X didn't let the incident derail his performance, waiting until after the show to share his embarrassment.

"OMFG NO... NOT MY PANTS RIPPED ON LIVE TV," he tweeted.

"I wanted to do my pole routine so bad, this is what I get lmao."

The artist later responded to claims he had planned the stunt on purpose, writing: "I know I do a lot of planned shit, but ripping my pants on live television is not one of them."

Lil Nas X also explained that the malfunction came after a chaotic rehearsal period.

"At first I was afraid to even perform. Then we rehearsed for two weeks, then all of the dancers got removed because one had COVID-19 and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours, and then I ended up ripping my pants and couldn't finish," he wrote.

"Everything happens for a reason though lol."

The release of Lil Nas X's music video for the queer anthem 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' prompted outrage for its raunchy choreography and biblical references, with the clip culminating in the rapper falling from heaven, pole dancing into hell, giving Satan a lap dance and eventually killing him.

"I am an adult, I am not gonna spend my entire career trying to cater to your children. That is your job," the rapper wrote in response to backlash over the artist's young fan base.
