Mark Zuckerberg mocked over 'freakin weird' July 4th surfing video

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has caused a stir with an Instagram post celebrating Independence Day in the US.

In the video, the billionaire foil surfs while holding an American flag as John Denver's 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' plays.

"Happy July 4th!" Zuckerberg captioned the post, along with a US flag emoji.

The 37-year-old, whose net worth is said to be US$127.7 billion, appears to be using an eFoil in the video - a surfboard-like device that flies above the ocean's surface powered by a hydrofoil.

In comments on the post and in repostings of it on Twitter, many social media users are roasting the CEO for his video.

"Why are all these billionaires so freakin weird?" asked one Twitter user.

"Worst timeline ever," quipped another.

"Wow, a waterproof robot," an Instagram comment reads.

"Here's Zuck's latest attempt to deflect accusations that he's an android," another tweet says.

"I wish they could bring John Denver back to life just so he could sue Mark Zuckerberg for this," tweeted another person.

One man suggested that the video was so bad, it could bring about peace through common ground in the US.

"Mark Zuckerberg may have united the left and the right in America: just not in the way he planned," tweeted Vasabjit Banerjee.

Last week, Facebook won dismissal of an antitrust complaint that could have forced it to sell off Instagram and WhatsApp.
