Review: The Lost City is filled with huge stars and few funny moments

When it comes to movie stars these three put the A in A-list: Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt.

As for the movie itself? At best all it can seem to rustle up is A for Average, B for Bummer and C for Can this silly movie please just end soon so I can go home?

The story follows a romance author (Bullock) who gets kidnapped by a miniature megalomaniac (Daniel Radcliffe) on a mission to find treasure. Her cover model (Tatum) launches his own mission to rescue her with some help from Brad Pitt.

The end.

I could explain more but why ruin the lack of surprise?

Look I promise you I wanted to love this movie and maybe I've been lulled into a false sense of security after a steady diet of sensational cinema so far this year; but seriously people, what am I missing?

Perhaps the only thing missing was at least three bottles of wine beforehand to wash down the unfunniness and render me catatonic.

The Lost City is front-loaded with a few funnies most of which you’ve already seen in the trailer before what's left of the comedy is stretched thinly across the rest of the inanity.

If there is any joy to be had, it's knowing how much fun they all seem to be having making it.

Two stars.
