Nineties pop icon Aaron Carter has been found dead at his home.

TMZ is reporting the 34-year-old singer-turned-rapper was found dead Saturday (local time) at his house in Lancaster, California.

His older brother Nick Carter's manager Lori Graf confirmed the news to the New York Post, writing "Aaron has passed" in an email.

Sources told TMZ Carter's body was found in his bathtub after a 911 call was made about a drowning.

The official cause of death is not yet known, but there was no information or evidence of foul play, police sources told TMZ.

Carter, younger brother of ex-Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, shot to fame in the 1990s with his hit single I Want Candy.

He released four studio albums, starting with his self-titled debut album in 1997, when he was nine years old.

He transitioned from pop to rap in later years as well as appearing on 'Dancing With The Stars' and in the Broadway production 'Seussical'.

He had many battles with substance abuse, sharing recently he was voluntarily attending an outpatient rehab program in order to regain custody of his son.

In 2019, older brother Nick revealed he and his sister Angel had filed a restraining order against Aaron, citing "alarming behaviour".
