Piers Morgan has demanded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "plunge to their knees and issue a global apology to their families" before they should be allowed to attend King Charles III's coronation.

Speaking on his show Piers Morgan Uncensored, he lashed out at the duo and the release of the tell-all memoir Spare, saying the criticism had done more damage than good.

"This treacherous little toad has forgotten that he is supposed to turn into a prince after being kissed by a spoiled princess - not the other way around," he said, referring to Harry.

"Before we even think about whether Harry and Meghan should be allowed anywhere near the coronation, and for me, they absolutely should not be considered for an invitation, one thing would need to happen.

"They'd have to go on national television, plunge to their knees and issue a global apology to their families on both sides who they so mercilessly trashed."

Morgan's comments came shortly after Harry asked for an apology to his wife from the royal family in an interview with The Telegraph.

"Now you could argue that some of the stuff I've put in [Spare], well, they will never forgive me anyway," Harry told the UK newspaper.

"But the way I see it is, I'm willing to forgive you for everything you've done, and I wish you'd actually sat down with me, properly, and instead of saying I'm delusional and paranoid, actually sit down and have a proper conversation about this, because what I'd really like is some accountability. And an apology to my wife."

It's just the latest in a long series of rants from Morgan hitting out at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In October, he became particularly irate, saying Harry and Meghan were still acting as if they were active royals despite the pair stepping back from royal life nearly three years ago.

"She calls herself a princess... you're not a princess. She's not a princess," Morgan said.

His comments come days after fellow controversial British broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson publicly apologised to Harry and Meghan for a notorious newspaper column in which he expressed intense hatred for the Duchess of Sussex and a desire for her to be "paraded naked through the streets".

Clarkson's The Sun column received widespread condemnation from the general public, politicians, his employers and even his own daughter.

Harry and Meghan dismissed Clarkson's apology, saying his column was part of "long standing pattern" of "articles shared in hate" rather than a rushed one-off, as he had suggested.
