Kiwi alternative metal band Devilskin has announced a 12 date New Zealand tour for April and May this year.

The group will tour extensively around both the North and South Island with their first live gigs in nearly two years.

Speaking from the Coromandel, Devilskin bassist Paul Martin said it was "about time we came up for air".

The Let Me Breathe tour will see the band play from Auckland to Invercargill.

The Hamilton-based group formed in June 2010 and consists of Jennie Skulander, Tony 'Nail' Vincent, Paul Martin and Nic Martin.

Tickets for the shows are now on sale.
