Infuriated fans who attended the Tauranga leg of the Monster Trucks Extreme show have received foul-mouthed responses to their complaints after some described the event as a "rip-off".

The show took place on Saturday but afterward, fans took to social media to label it a "waste" - with one saying it was "the lamest event I think I've ever been to".

Tickets to the show cost $63.50 for an adult aged over 15, $37.88 for a child $186.50 for a family pass.

"We travelled to see the show. Definitely not worth the money," one attendee said on Facebook.

"This show was a huge disappointment on so many levels. Completely overpriced tickets," another wrote.

After the complaints, promoters Monster Truck Promotions Australia sent a statement to showgoers - saying there was a PA system failure which was "in no way the organiser's fault, this was the venue".

"The organisers were in no way responsible for the break in the PA that lead [sic] to people not knowing what attractions were going on," the statement said, as reported by the NZ Herald.

However, customers still weren't impressed - with some deciding to complain to the company directly.

Social media message replies to complainees said the "Kiwi f**kwits that ran" the venue Trustpower Baypark were to blame, while the promoters responded to another complaint, "No wonder virtually nothing comes to your country", the Herald reported.

Newshub has contacted the promoters for comment.

The tour moves to Auckland this week and Palmerston North after that.

Also responding to social media complaints, Trustpower Baypark said it would pass the feedback on to the show's promoters.

Refunds would be at the discretion of the promoter, "but we will make sure they see all the feedback we are getting", it said.
