Red, White & Brass launches first trailer showing off Tongan Rugby World Cup feel-good story

The first trailer for a new Wellington-shot film has just been released, showing off the humour and heart of a Tongan community who are desperate to get Rugby World Cup tickets to see their national team take on France.

Based on a true story, the film is the debut of director Damon Fepulea'i and follows the story of Maka, a superfan who "will do whatever it takes" to get tickets to Tonga's 2011 Rugby World Cup match.

However, Maka decides the only way is to deliver a non-existent brass band for the pre-match entertainment.

The underdog, feel-good story features John-Paul Foliaki (Popstars), Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi (The Panthers), Ilaisaane Green (Brutal Lives), Onetoto Ikavuka, Mikey Falesiu (Toke), Lupeti Finau, Lotima Pome'e (Under the Vines), and Haanz Fa'avae-Jackson (Savage).

Finau was in the original band that performed at the Rugby World Cup in 2011.

Red, White & Brass releases on March 23.
